Cloth vs. Disposable

Since approximately half way through my pregnancy, I wanted to try cloth diapering. A couple of folks I knew were already cloth diapering with success. Justin wasn't so sure about it. Between him and daycare "not" on board (aka, not allowed) I didn't go any further.

I envied each time I read a post about cloth diapers. I wanted to do this. Good for the bum, good for the earth, and GOOD FOR THE WALLET. A fried posted that she had a couple of diapers for sale. I JUMPED ON IT! I did not say much about it to Justin. Then while on vacation, I researched like crazy. I convinced him that it was going to work. Let's try and "if it does, it does" & "if it don't, it don't".

Being that it's summer and my job gives me summer off, what better time to give it a try. From the first diaper I had a fetish. I am in love with the cloth. Madalynn seems to be more comfortable. She isn't red when you take her diaper off. Mostly because she is, usually, dry to the touch when her diaper is removed.

I have worked my magic and Madalynn will be using the diapers at daycare. Our house brand favorites are Smaripants and BumGenius.

Madalynn goes to the Beach

We made it to the ocean. Curious if Madalynn will like the ocean and sand. She wasn't real sure about grass, so my thought was she would scream while in the sand. WRONG! She loved it. Check out the video below. We will be going back early mornings and late evenings. I don't want to get too much sun on her tender baby skin.

FIRST Family Vacation

Friday night June 11th, 2010 destination: BEACH! Stay tuned in the upcoming days for the full story.

Operation BEACH was successful. The drive was easy and Madalynn was a CHAMP. We stayed Saturday through Wednesday. Madalynn loved the water. We spent most of our time at the pool. Madalynn loved the ocean in the evenings when the weather around was a little cooler. I think she enjoyed the sand the most. She played in it one night for about 30 minutes.

We enjoyed eating at Margaritaville. Madalynn enjoyed a tasty cucumber slice while enjoying some wonderful music. Try to Honey, Habenaro Wings if you get the chance to go. Next on the list was Pineapple Willy's. Ribs, ribs, and more ribs. Bayou Bills Crab House. This is a great place opposite of the hustle and bustle end of PCB.LOVE their crab patties. Last on the list, The Mellow Mushroom. Justin and I had never been to one. It took us 20 minutes or more to choose a pizza. It was the best, non-traditional pizza I have ever tasted!I almost forgot, we ate lunch one day at Hofbrua. It's located in Pier Park.It is a pub style eatery. But has great German food.

It all begins somewhere...

In June 2009, Justin and Heather said "I do". After eight years together, WE made it official.

Now let's back track... we began dating in July 2001. Graduated high school and both attended Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN. Justin graduated in Decemember 2007 with a degree in MIT. Spring rolled around Heather began the last part of her college journey... student teaching. She graduated in May 2008. During the spring we were engaged. Planned the wedding for June 27, 2009.

In February 2009, we found out we were expecting. In May, we found out that little heartbeat belonged to a girl! Madalynn Ann was born in October.
